Achievements

Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Foreign Languages School (SICFLS), subordinate to Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatisation, is a national key secondary vocational school founded in 1978.

SICFLS is the standing member of China Secondary Vocational Education Cooperation and Development Association, a model school of the ‘PASCH’ Initiative, a Shanghai Civilised Campus and Green Campus, a model school for law-based operation in Shanghai, a demonstration school for the reform and development of secondary vocational education in Shanghai, an outstanding contribution organisation for skilled talent cultivation in Shanghai, a model school for family education in Shanghai, a demonstration school for mental health education in Shanghai, a model school for code of conduct in Shanghai, a base for ethnic cultural inheritance education of ‘Dragon Culture’ in Shanghai, an intangible cultural heritage inheritance base for ‘Fu Qingquan Yang Style Tai Chi’, a director institution of China Association for International Education (CAFSA) and International Education Association Shanghai (IEAS), an international student base of Shanghai International Youth Exchange Centre, and a bronze medal school for the CEAIE-AFS International Cultural Exchange Programme. Additionally, the school has established the first Model Worker Workstation within the system of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatisation. SICFLS is also the only secondary vocational school in Shanghai that is named after ‘Foreign Languages’ and qualified to admit international students. The school is also accredited with the ‘FrancEducation’ label, and is internationally certified under the ISO29990 International Education Organisation Management System.

Programmes Offered

The school is now offering a wide range of programme choices to approximately 2400 students —

5 secondary vocational programmes integrated with university degree curricula (7-year Zhongben Guantong Programmes): International Economics and Trade, German (Business-oriented), Spanish (Business-oriented), Korean, and Computer Science and Technology.

9 secondary vocational programmes integrated with higher vocational college curricula (5-year Zhonggaozhi Guantong programmes): International Business, Applied German, Applied Korean, Mechatronics Technology, Applied French, Applied Computer Technology (Big Data), Tourism Japanese, Applied English, and Digital Manufacturing Technology for Drones.

12 regular secondary vocational programmes: Business English, International Business, Business German, Business Japanese, Business French, Business Korean, Business Russian, Business Spanish, Cross-border E-commerce, Big Data Technology Application, Numerical Control Technology Application, and Software & Information Services.

Faculty and Staff

The school has a total of 249 staff members, including 1 professor and 59 senior lecturers (25.3% of the total), and 116 lecturers (49.8% of the total). There are 155 full-time teachers, with 54.2% of them holding a master’s degree or above.

The school has 1 National Model Teacher, and 1 Shanghai Outstanding Worker. Additionally, 2 Shanghai municipality-level Master Teacher Cultivation Studios (for Art and Japanese respectively), and 9 school-level Master Teacher Studios have been established and organised at SICFLS.

The school also employs more than 10 international teachers and over 30 part-time teachers who are experts and skilled professionals in relevant industries.

Adhering to the strategic plan of ‘providing high-quality teaching, implementing high-quality management, and cultivating high-quality students,’ the school actively adapts to the needs of new technologies and industrial changes, and consolidates the foundation of vocational development.
