2019年4月底,澳大利亚维多利亚州VYLC青年领导者项目最新一批团组近四十位成员,在我校国际教育部顺利完成了商务汉语和中国文化学习任务,并与我校国际交流团队ICT青年学生顺利开展了大量致力于跨文化能力提升的商务文化交流活动,取得了很好效果。
该团组多位带队老师对我校国际教育部教学团队的优质教学成效给予了高度肯定,并深深表示感谢。其中,来自怀特弗利学校和圣约瑟夫学校的两位老师,还特别代表全体澳洲师生,表达对我校感谢。
现将两位老师的感言摘录如下:
我叫骆蔚虹,是澳大利亚维多利亚州青年领导者来华学习团的随行老师。
在这个柳绿桃红、莺飞草长的阳春四月,我们来到了美丽的上海。短短四周,国际教育部为我们精心安排了丰富多彩的学习及游览活动。作为一个汉语老师,我欣喜的见证了我们的孩子们在汉语学习和对中国文化的认知上取得的明显进步。这都是经验丰富的上海老师们耐心、尽心帮助的结果,在她们的指导下,孩子们学习汉语的热情和对中国文化的兴趣都得到了巩固和提高。在校内的各种活动中他们和上海的同龄人建立了友谊、增进了了解。除此以外,我们游苏州、无锡,登东方明珠塔,逛豫园,去音乐厅听交响乐,品尝江南美食……得益于国际教育部的精心安排,我们有幸亲身体验了江南的秀色,了解了传统意义上的上海,一个中西合璧、在三十年代曾经被称为“亚洲的巴黎”的美丽城市;也认识了一个有很多摩天大楼、有壮观的跨海大桥的充满活力的现代化国际大都市。总之,通过上海,我们对中国及中国文化有了更深的了解。四周时间不长,但我相信,这段经历对我们的孩子们来说不仅难忘,而且对他们成长为一个有国际视野、有跨文化理解力、有博大胸襟、责任感和领导力的人有着极大的帮助。
我们老师们尤其是我自己,通过这次的交流,我们对今天的中国和中国文化有了更进一步的了解,也在中国的年轻同行们身上学到了很多有用的教学方法。
我们即将结束我们的中国之行。在此,我谨代表维州青年领导者来华学习团的全体师生,向各位致以最诚挚的谢意。
感谢傅晶晶主任和上海国际教育交流协会从中协调,为我们做了最好的安排。感谢上海市工商外国语学校,尤其是国际教育部的老师们,他们不仅精心为我们设计了丰富多彩的教学、参观游览活动;而且牺牲了周末的时间陪伴我们,并在生活上贴心周到地照顾我们。感谢宿管阿姨叔叔们、学校餐厅的工作人员及学校的保安们对我们的照顾和帮助。因为你们所有人的努力,我们在上海的时间非常愉快,收获满满。

My name is Michelle Anderson. I’m a teacher from St Joseph’s College, Geelong. I was lucky enough to speak at the Welcome Ceremony just over 5 weeks ago at the start of the Victorian Young Leaders to China program at Sichuan University, Chengdu. During that speech I spoke of how we looked forward to meeting the objectives of: Chinese Language Acquisition; Building Cultural Understanding; and Developing Leadership Capacity. We have certainly come a long way in meeting these objectives.
我叫米歇尔•安德森,是圣约瑟夫学校的老师。5个多星期前,我很幸运地在四川大学“维州青年领导者项目”的启动仪式上作了发言。在发言中,我谈到了我们期待实现的目标:汉语学习;建立文化理解;培养领导能力。在实现这些目标方面,我们走了很长的路。
These thirty-three young men from St Joseph’s, Whitefriars and Marcellin Colleges here today have all improved their Chinese language ability in ways that they just could not back in Australia. They have not only gained a deeper understanding of the language but gained confidence in using it. It is in this regular use that they will continue to rapidly improve.
来自圣约瑟夫学校、玛瑟琳学校和怀特弗利学校的33名年轻人在这里提高了他们的汉语能力。他们不仅对语言有了更深的理解,而且对使用语言也有了信心。正是在这种日常使用中,他们的语言能力得到了快速提高。
During many of the our excursions out of the school I have observed the students interact with the local Chinese communities using not only the Chinese they have learned but new communication skills as well. Skills they will use throughout their lives in all parts of the world.
在我们的外出活动中,我观察到学生们不仅使用他们所学的汉语,而且还使用新的沟通技巧与当地中国人交流。这样的技能对他们今后在世界各地的生活很有帮助。
Whether they can see it or not these young men have developed their cultural understanding. I’m so impressed with their easy acceptance and willing use of chopsticks at meal times. Their eager participation in many shared dishes representing cuisine from many of China’s provinces.Peppery Sichuan, sweet and sour Shanghainese, unique Cantonese, to name a few.
不管他们是否能看到,这些年轻人的跨文化理解能力得到了提升。我对他们在用餐时容易接受并愿意使用筷子印象深刻。他们非常愿意尝试中国各地的菜肴。辛辣的四川菜,甜酸的上海菜,独特的广东菜,等等。
From these basic everyday differences to the more complex defining differences in our cultures. Like learning about and visiting sites that represent an ancient people with various belief systems and seeing places of worship with people actually worshipping. It is with these experiences that minds are opened to a global community in which so much can be learned and understood. With this knowledge future relationships are forged.
从这些基本的日常差异到更复杂的文化层面所定义的差异。比如学习和参观有着各种信仰体系的古代人的遗址,以及与当地人一起参观礼拜场所。正是有了这些经验,思想才变得更加开放包容,在这个全球化的社会中,可以学到和理解这么多知识。有了这些知识,未来才能具有国际化视野。
The final objective I mentioned was developing leadership capacity. It is hard to gauge this and speak of it in generalities. However, I do believe that each of these young men has changed in a subtle way that will develop to varying degrees as they mature. It is my hope that those with leadership capabilities will have gained the confidence during the past 5 weeks to grow into the change makers of tomorrow.
我提到的最后一个目标是培养领导能力。关于这一点我们很难衡量并笼统地谈论它。然而,我相信这些年轻人中的每一个都以一种微妙的方式发生了变化,随着他们的成熟,会有不同程度的发展。我希望那些有领导能力的人在过去的5周内有信心成长为未来的变革者。
It is very evident that you, Shanghai I & C Foreign Language School have been instrumental in supporting these Australian students in working towards and meeting these objectives. The staff and students of the International Communications Team have been outstanding in their effort to make us all feel welcome and valued as part of their school community. For your dedication to the success of the VYLC program which has been prepared so thoughtfully and thoroughly we are grateful.

So, on behalf of St Joseph’s, Marcellin and Whitefriars Colleges I would like to thank Steven, Maggie and Sunia for their commitment to making the past 4 weeks in China so interesting and action-packed with an amazing selection of cultural attractions, learning experiences and a smorgasbord of mouth-watering Chinese cuisine. Our understanding of Chinese culture has been underpinned by an assortment of cultural lessons delivered by very engaging experts. A particular favourite of mine was the calligraphy class.

Thanks also goes to Lena and Audrey for their patience and persistence, challenging the students to rapidly improve their Chinese language skills. Lessons have been interactive and very effective.
